179 - Today's Reading

1776, originally uploaded by carolfoasia.

Prior to 4th of July, I try to read a book related to our nation's independence. This particular one has been excellent, and I find myself tearing up on a regular basis as I listen to David McCullough read it. Ever since I heard him narrate the Civil War series, I have loved this man's contribution to helping us understand our nation's history.

Hi, Carol! I have been sleeping in lately and not goint to TAC in the mornings.

You are listening to the author read it? On CD, then? That's the way I "read" this book. Drove my family NUTS in the car because I would have to 're-wind' multiple times to make sure I understood everything. I don't have much of a frame of reference for history, so not much previous data in my head to plug this info into. I find I enjoy biography as a way to get at history in a way that to me is interesting and relatively easy.

I've never read it but just today I was listening to a couple songs from the musical "The Civil War". The two songs are "Sarah" and "Virginia" sung by Mike Eldred, great songs and amazing voice.
