From the day we met in 1984, we have been friends. I was supposed to move into Randy and Mary Law's house one summer and had already moved most of my stuff in my room, but Nikie didn't have a place to live before her wedding. So, I let her stay in my room, and I stayed back at my old place until her wedding. She said she started liking me when she read all the neat things on my quilt (homemade from a group of friends in high school). We have laughed and cried and loved for 25 years!

Lisa turned me on to High School Musical and Zac Ephron. So, we had to go and see 17 Again together!

Hike Up to Bald Hill
What a great hike up to Bald Hill with Jennifer's friends from Kurdistan! I loved listening to their life stories of perseverance in the face of great difficulties. Amazing!

Reconnecting in Mid-Life
Lisa came out from Texas for a writer's conference at George Fox College in Newberg. We went up to have dinner with her and talk of old times. While I was getting ready, I thought it would be so fun to take another picture in front of the Bauman Auditorium just like we did back in 1988. I came out into the living room to see our old photo album open. George had thought the exact same thing! The bush has grown, the building has been painted, and we are now 21 1/2 years older; but our friendship with Lisa is still as strong as ever. What a delightful time!

2009 Begins with Dear Friends
It is another year of Carol365, and I am determined to do a picture a day as opposed to doing 365 pictures over the whole year! I didn't pick up my camera for weeks at a time, and I didn't grow as a photographer. So, there is a reason for doing it everyday.
Here are my friends at the close of our New Year's Party. Love these women and women to be. I can't think of a better group of people in which to usher in the new year!
New Year's Eve with Treasured Friends
This is our umpteenth New Year's Eve at Teala's sorority house. The huge house gave kids lots of running room when they were little and hiding places for Hide and Go Seek. Now, we play games and have a blast. This is our sixth year with the Stewarts and first year with Sharon and Joanna!
Joanna and Tucker
Game Mania - The guys played Monopoly while the girls played WHOONU and Apples to Apples. A good time was had by all!

Missy and Me at the Sea
May 12, 2008
It is blurry, but I just don't get this point and shoot some times. I had to include it because I am so inept at doing these kinds of pictures on these kinds of cameras. It also documented a special day (See below for explanation of the day).
May Missy at the Sea
May 12, 2008
She came from Indiana for only four days, and I was gone for two of those four days. So, we hatched a plan to have me take her to the coast to visit her in-laws. Then, we split up and had time alone with God on the beach. Missy is a hard core, love Jesus, tell the truth friend. I have grown to love and appreciate her more than she probably even realizes. Thanks for a great day, Missy! Loved your word picture: "Don't Pick Up the Snake!"

Nanny Nancy and Me
What is the probability of having two of your nannys from Southeast Asian BOTH living in Tucson? "Nanny Yancey" (as Paul called her) was our nanny after Hannah!
She has been begging me to come to Tucson and go to this lovely "Chantilly Tea House." It was everything I expected and more. Delightful!

Friends Since Birth
I helped "birth" Isaac. I had to pull his dad out of the way of the line of birth because his dad had fainted on the floor. I was three months pregnant with Paul at the time.
Isaac is OUT THERE, funny, and loves everybody. My son is more conservative in his public demonstrations. Can you tell which one is my son and which one is Isaac?
I know it is grainy, but it just made me smile.

356 - Cowden Cul de Sac Christmas Caroling
Saturday, December 22, 2007
Remember the 4th of July Party Hostess with the Mostest, Lisa? Well, she and her lovely family also host a Christmas Caroling Party every year. (except they were in Australia last Christmas and DIDN'T fly home to host the party. Imagine that?).
What a blessed time!
355 - Couples Christmas Dinner
Friday, December 21, 2007
The festive weekend began with a couples dinner at our house with dear friends. We dropped our kids off at Doug and Lisa's to hang out with their kids, and D & L and Pete and Sharon came here for a quiet candlelight dinner. We had a lovely time.
My only regret is that the picture of Doug and Lisa was too blurry in the low light and didn't make the photo mosaic!

323 - Good-Bye Old Friend
Monday, November 19, 2007
Liz came to visit my mom today. She talked of fishing and boating and water-skiing and all the fun times they had together. Liz is 86 years old and still driving, leading Bible study, and feeding the homeless in Oceanside. She is the only one of my parents' old friends left of the group of friends who moved to Fallbrook after their retirement from Rockwell International in the late 70's. It was a sweet time that concluded in a heart-warming prayer for my mom's elevation to her heavenly home.
One of my favorite things about my growing up years were my parents' great friends! Thanks Liz.

301 - Oregon Sports Hall of Famer
Today was a reception for my old roommate, Mary Ayotte-Law, who was inducted into the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame. She was the 1982 National Champion in floor exercise. We lived together in the "Jackson 5 Household" from 1984-87.
Mary is very short (I think she is 4 feet 10 1/2 inch). We used to run together and cause major rubbernecking and traffic jams because of the great disparity in our heights! (almost 16 inches). One day, we discovered that my arm was as long as her leg! So, I just wanted to document that fact forever by putting it in my 365 Blog!
Congratulations Mary!!!!!!

265 - Sorority Sisters and Spouses Saturday
You remember Jean and Leanne from here. Leanne and Joe are the parents of the groom from the wedding feast with the pig's head here.
About once or twice a year, we get together and include our husbands. We had McMenamin's and Gelato. Here we all are in downtown Corvallis in front of Leanne and Joe's new Suburban (complete with wireless headphones and a DVD player!).
They are all great people, and we always have a really good time! What is great about this group is that the husbands get along really well which is nice because they are stuck with one another while the women chat away! Also, we are all OSU Beavers with the exception of one UO Duck. (Jim, second from left), but we don't hold it against him. :) Also, Jim is the guy who does pastel art that I have told many of you about. If you haven't seen it, check it out here. Jim also knows photography, and he READS his manuals. So, he made some adjustments on my camera to help me! YIPPEE!
