350 - The Shepherds' Candle

350 - The Shepherds' Candle, originally uploaded by carolfoasia.

The third Sunday in Advent is the Shepherds' candle. It is also known as the joy candle so we sang "Joy to the World" by candlelight tonight.

Gorgeous...these simple candles say so much. How are you, Carol?

LOve the candles -- we lit our Shepherd's candle -- also known as the Gaudete candle (French for "joy") as Advent transitions from a penetenial focus to a joyous one. I'm getting Advent THREE times each Sunday: Sunday School, church service, and at home. Then we continue daily at home as well.

I love Advent!

My center candle is white -- I've never seen a red one before, but it does work. White for Christ's purity or red for Christ's sacrifice....
