Hike Up to Bald Hill
What a great hike up to Bald Hill with Jennifer's friends from Kurdistan! I loved listening to their life stories of perseverance in the face of great difficulties. Amazing!

Reconnecting in Mid-Life
Lisa came out from Texas for a writer's conference at George Fox College in Newberg. We went up to have dinner with her and talk of old times. While I was getting ready, I thought it would be so fun to take another picture in front of the Bauman Auditorium just like we did back in 1988. I came out into the living room to see our old photo album open. George had thought the exact same thing! The bush has grown, the building has been painted, and we are now 21 1/2 years older; but our friendship with Lisa is still as strong as ever. What a delightful time!

Now that I am done with all the other obligations of speaking, I can finally start reading and listening to Les Miserables.

Daphne Odora
This flower is one of my favorites. It is right near our front door and people always comment about the lovely fragrance when they come and go.

The Big One that Didn't Get Away!
George and Jeff went fishing on the Wilson on Saturday. Time for two good childhood friends to catch up on life while enjoying one of their favorite boyhood activities. This is a wild stealhead that George thinks was about fifteen pounds. You can't keep the wild ones here in Oregon. So, he is still swimming in the Wilson River!
(Obviously, George is my "guest" photographer because he had the nice camera, and all I managed to take pictures of was my tea time service with our point and shoot. These are much more interesting!)

American Literature Aftermath
I woke up with the sun shining through my window onto the pile from yesterday's American Literature class. I love Fridays because we have NO extra-curricular things to do. So, sometimes I get up AFTER the sunrise!
