What a moving experience to round the track at the Relay for Life and see all the luminaries lit in memory of those who have died and in honor of those who have survived.
Having had three friends die of cancer in the last few months and having lost a parent to cancer, it brought me to tears several times during the evening.

Relay for Life - Lebanon
Relay Laps
My friend, Dee, invited me to come and walk with her family at the Relay for Life in Lebanon. The entire Lebanon Fire Department participated in the relay. I am carrying one of those thingys they use to break down doors. That was our "baton."
See the stretcher? They started giving rides around the track on the stretcher for three dollars a lap. It was a way to raise more money for the cancer cause.
In Memory of Gentle Jane
Jane was my worship leader and guitarist. She was a dream to work with. We lead worship for many events over the years. I led a small worship time with her for the last time in 2006. Shortly after this, she was diagnosed with cancer. It was so wonderful to walk around the track and have three men sing many of the same songs that I used to sing with Jane.
The thing I am most impressed about Jane is the quiet dignity is which she died. Her husband was also so wonderful throught the whole experience. His blog was heart-wrenching to read, honest and raw but full of love for his wonderful wife.
In Memory of Wonderful Jeanne
Jeanne bravely fought inflammatory breast cancer for years. She left five lovely children and a devoted husband. She was a wonderful lady. I was just getting to know her when she died. She died on her 47th birthday.

Orthodics
Thoe whole blood clot thing started because I was having numbness in my right leg. I thought it was because I needed new orthodics (I was wearing an old pair from 1986!). Well, I still need new orthodics, and I went ahead and got new ones. Dr. Domrose had a TON of questions about digital photography and thought it was very cool that I take pictures of my everyday life. I stopped short of telling him that the last doctor picture I took was from my pap smear. TMI TMI TMI!

Ravioli Recovery
I had an angiogram, but my blood clot was gone! (Miracle) I had to rest in bed for a couple of days.
When I was little, I would always get Chef-Boy-Ardee Ravioli when I was sick. Teala had given me some cans of it last week! So, George heated up a can for me.

Congratulatons Mikaela!
Another milestone in the Alexander family will occur tomorrow: Mikaela is graduating from high school! Where did the time go? Wasn't it just yesterday she was dressed like a bumble bee in a dance recital? I brought pictures of her in that adorable outfit, and we had a good laugh.
Mikaela is a beautiful, poised, and lovely girl.
